BWC is a non-profit-making association of women that have been affected by racism and discrimination, and which aim to help other women in similar situations.

We are an initiative of black women of different nationalities, culture, socialization, religion, skin color, languages, ideologies, and ways of living etc.

Our differences are our diversity and strength!

We are united by the experience with racism and  sexism as well the commitment in the fight against prejudices, discrimination, exclusion and oppression.

We want to promote and support the autonomy, self-consciousness and selfdeter-mination and self-organization of black women through our diverse competences.

Our common goal is the EMPOWERMENT of black women in Austria.



We want:

  • to take advantage from intercultural competence, as we see it as an opportunity

  • to support actively through sustained integration a better coexistence of black and white population

  • to develop good examples and favorable future prospects

  • to offer to disadvantaged target groups the opportunity of collaborating and working together with the BWC

  • to commit ourselves in order to achieve better opportunities for women from Africa , regardless of their origin

  • to commit ourselves to black women issues, both adult and young


Our priorities:

  • Empowerment for black women through autonomy, self-consciousness and self-determination

  • Fight against any type of exclusion, as well as against racism, sexism, discrimination in all their manifestations

  • Exchange and education, networking and support for black women on both national and international levels

  • Networking with another regional, national and international entities and organizations

  • To start and support anti-racism campaigns and public relations work on education, research and cultureTo (co-)organize information and round-table events, as well as campaigns, seminars and workshops on current issues

  • To publish and support publications as well as organize and co-ordinate study groups.

Our goals:

  • To promote and to express our development and our increasing diversity, and to give each other strength and power

  • To fight together against exclusion, discrimination, prejudices, xenophobia, sexism and racism

  • To initiate, to promote and to support activities addressed to achieve equal rights for every person, regardless of origin, appearance, sexual orientation, way of life, gender, language, etc.

  • To bring to the attention of the broad public the reality of black people in Austria, with the aim to discuss and evaluate social phenomena from our perspective

  • To link ourselves up with another black movements worldwide and exchange experiences and strategies, and thereby strengthen and encourage our community.

We are a complement to existing services.
